It’s official, we’re looking forward to an exciting August...

About two weeks ago we were lucky to participate in La Cocina’s Local Forager Contest which, through Facebook voting, gave the opportunity to local upstart food businesses to participate in this year’s 5th Annual San Francisco Street Food Festival.

If we haven’t thanked you already via Facebook, Text message, email, or phone call, here’s one more chance for me to say THANK YOU to all the friends, family, supporters that voted and helped spread the word about Fritas Shack.

The contest culminated with an invitation to, and the announcement of the top vote-getters at the 2013 San Francisco Street Food Festival Media Dinner at the Fort Mason Center this past week.  It was a wonderful event with fantastic food from the inspiring food businesses that are apart of La Cocina’s incubator program and some tasty (and strong J) artisanal cocktails provided by Rye on the Road.

During the evening Fritas Shacked was announced as one of the top 5 vote-getters for the contest, and we received a really nice gift basket from Whole Foods with a lot of my favorites: coffee from Sight Glass, Tcho Chocolates, oh, and we happened to win a spot in this year’s Street Food Festival!  This is a huge event (see some photos from last year's event for yourself) and are excited to be apart of it as a local forager.

So it’s official.  August is going to be one hectic and fun month. We’ve put in a lot of hard work and had great opportunities and couldn’t be happier with the direction we’re going.  More importantly, we’re just looking forward to serving more and more people in the Bay Area some great food that I love making and eating.  Come by, we’ll be around:

Saturday, August 3rd – Yelp Summer Sip-Nic, 2pm-5pm @ Rock Wall Wine Company (Alameda)  Details Here

Friday, August 9th – Off the Grid: Fort Mason – 5pm-10pm @ Fort Mason Center (San Francisco) Details Here

Saturday, August 17th – 5th Annual San Francisco Street Food Festival 11am-7pm @ Folsom between 20th and 26th (San Francisco) Details Here

We’re also working out some details for a great pop-up lunch for the end of August with our friends at Frozen Kuhsterd. Of course, we’ll be at our new home, the Stonestown Farmer’s Market every Sunday from 9am to 2pm.

So come by to any of the events and bring your appetites!
